Knock on wood

Well, it has been two weeks since Luis' last chemo appointment, and for the first time since January, he has not had a fever within 1-2 weeks after treatment. I am regularly checking him, expecting to find that he is boiling, but he seems just fine. It's amazing. Especially since his daily at-home chemo was increased back to 75% of the original dose, up from 50%.

There are some exciting changes coming up. The boys have been at an in-home daycare since March. Luis will be officially starting school this September in senior kindergarten on a rotating schedule. His alternate days will be spent at a full-time day care, where Julien will also be full-time. I took the boys to meet their teachers and they both didn't want to leave. They had such a great time. Luis went to in-home daycare from age 1-3 until his provider retired. When he moved into a montessori, his knowledge exploded. I'm excited to see this growth in both my boys.

Now we are preparing for 'back-to-school'. The shopping, the planning, the hair cut!! Yes, Luis' locks were getting long, curly and out of control. For the first time since he was completely bald in January, Luis got his hair cut at a cute little place called Hip Snips. They spiked his hair up with red gel (he got to pick the colour), and then he got to ride the boat that they use to cut hair in. What a novel idea. It's the only place I will ever take him to get his hair cut because it's the only time he looks forward to a haircut :)
