Clowning around

Back to London for another routine day of anesthesia, a lumbar puncture (spinal tap), and chemo. Fortunately, Luis has been feeling pretty well and his hair is even growing back! Today, we played in the art therapy room. Supposedly, it's only for kids ages 6 and up, but the art therapist agreed that Luis was very focused on his painting and fit right in. My little artist.

His blood counts are a little low today but they should bounce back up with the next round of steroids. He seems to be growing taller and heavier ever so slightly.

Outside of Luis' two fevers over the last month, we found lots of time to play and be normal. I'm also trying to encourage Luis to help out around the house. One of our new rules is that he has to clear his area at the table when he is done eating. Often, when I reminded him to do so, he complained that his legs were sore. Funny how his complaints started to coincide with me asking something of him. It made me doubt the severity and/or sincerity of his complaints. I thought sore legs was a side effect of one the drugs that I give him every week. However, today the doctor told me that sore legs was related to a different drug that he got 4 weeks ago. Any effects would have taken place in the first or second week. So when Luis was complaining about sore legs yesterday, it may have been a bit of an exaggeration to get his own way. Such a smarty pants, my Luisito.

Mmmm....Honey Nut Cheerios

Luis pulling his weight, literally

We had our own Valentine's Day party where Luis helped me make yummy cupcakes. Luis and Julien also got Valentine's Day balloons and chocolates. Luis really enjoyed himself and it made the Hallmark Holiday feel special.

Our Valentine's Day Party

Typically, we spend most days at home and inside. But the other day, the snow was perfect for making a snowman. We had Luis' new buddy from next door help us build a cool snowman. They brought the oreo eyes and we supplied the carrot. A cup of hot chocolate and fresh cupcakes topped off a great day.

Play time with Luis' new buddy

All seems well and I'm hoping this coming month will be even better than the last.
