Since the last entry, Luis has managed to stay healthy. Julien was the
one who got sick next with strep throat. Seems like it's always one of
them. We're fortunate Luis didn't catch it. He went for his chemo this
week and I found out that he is neutropenic again (low immunity). They
put his daily and weekly at-home chemo on hold
again and he will
be assessed next week to determine if he's ready to restart it.
It seems like a process of trial-and-error to get the right daily dosage
so his immunity doesn't bottom out and he gets the treatment he needs
to keep the cancer at bay. The treatment protocol calls for a set dose
per day but it's just too much for his body. Ultimately, I imagine his
daily dose will be somewhere between 50 to 75% of the dose. That's up to
the doctors to decide.
Bowl-A-Thon
We participated in the Ronald McDonald House's 10th Annual Bowl-A-Thon a couple weeks ago. Luis loved bowling and so did Julien. Both kids, however, did not like Ronald McDonald. Luis was actually terrified. I can't imagine why. He was so friendly :)
In any case, Team Big Brave Boy had a good time bowling and helped support the Southwestern RMH, an amazing organization that helped us extensively over the last year and continues to help us for Luis' London appointments. The Bowl-A-Thon brought in over $20,000 to the house. Thanks to all those who contributed.
Summertime and the living's easy
This weekend was a time for play. Luis got to see a number of his cousins and enjoy the warm weather and cool treats. He also had a day with his one of his best buddies.

I would like to thank
Lisa Bhatt Photography for the adorable pictures of my family. I'm so happy with the results. Thanks!
Cute photographs, Jen! Whereabouts were the photos taken? Am happy to see all so happy through all the upheavals.
ReplyDeleteThanks. There is a park on McHugh (I think), across from the WFCU centre (between Lauzon and Banwell. It has very nice scenery.
