December did not disappoint. Much like November, the kids had rounds of fevers in December, right up until the week of Christmas. Luis was able to find time to play with one of his best buddies before the most recent illness.
The kids were lucky enough to be 'relatively' healthy for Christmas. However, they did manage to share that 'holiday spirit' and I enjoyed a little sick time after Christmas as well. Unfortunately, with all the illness bubbling around us, we were unable to meet up with a lot of the boys' cousins. We spent a lot of time at home together. The kids were visited by Santa and enjoyed their presents. Julien also had his second birthday on Boxing Day.
Luis had treatment in London over the holidays. We made a little trip out of it and got to play the day before.
This was the first time Julien joined us at the London hospital in over a year. The nurses all went crazy for him. "Look how big he is!" or "Is he ever cute".
Like every London trip, Luis received chemo in his port, and injected in spine while under general anesthesia. For the lumbar puncture, he has to fast all morning until about 1:00 p.m. This is the worst part of every trip. On this visit, the challenge was to keep Julien fed without letting Luis see. We went for a lot of walks where we hid in the hallway for short periods.
Luis officially started Cycle 5 of Maintenance, which is 12 weeks long. We keep repeating 12 week cycles until September of this year. My, how far we've come...
Happy New Year!
