Finally...a time to celebrate

Officially, Luis' chemo ended about a month ago. But about three weeks ago, when we were just about to celebrate with a big party, Luis go a bacterial pneumonia and was in the hospital for two nights. Thankfully, the stronger antibiotics finally knocked out that cough that was eerily like the 'other' cough that set this journey into motion.

Luis also had his first follow up appointment in Windsor. They took his vital signs, ran blood work, the doctor checked him over and everything is where it should be. The nurses were kind enough to gather for a celebration song and a special gong show :)

This Thanksgiving weekend, we finally gathered as a family and gave Luis a proper celebration to recognize all of his struggles and triumphs. The only disappointment was that Julien has not been well this week and did not attend the party so that Luis could have this day with the rest of the family. After all, the party had already been cancelled once due to illness. Luis was happy to see our close family, his cousins that he hadn't seen in months, and some close family friends who have become angels in our lives.

I'm so thankful for my children, my family and friends, doctors and nurses, kindness of strangers, and the happy moments in between life's challenges. Happy Thanksgiving!
