Flu season? No thanks.

My week has been considerably better than last time I wrote. Julien is feeling much better, and Luis has been more manageable from day to day as well. Luis went for more chemo last week. He had another lumbar puncture (chemo injected into the spine while under anesthesia). He has had several of them throughout this process.

Just one more chemo treatment until we start the next phase, Delayed Intensification. Like the name suggests, it will be intense. Lots more drugs and nasty ones too. The doctor told me a long time ago that if he hasn't lost all of his hair (which he hasn't), he probably will during that phase. It is going to be a rough winter with everyone getting sick this time of year.

Now is a good time to remind everyone to GET YOUR FLU SHOT! The 2012 flu shot clinics for Windsor-Essex County can be found at http://www.wechealthunit.org/immunization/influenza-flu/flu-schedule. We got ours already  from our doctor.  We cannot afford to have the flu enter our home this year. Luis' immune system will be wiped, not to mention, he'll probably already feel yucky from the chemo.

For now, I think the next 3 weeks or so shouldn't be too bad for him. His energy seems good, doesn't feel sick too often, and rarely throws up anymore. Well, he is neutropenic again (i.e. compromised immune system) from the chemo. That does limit our fun. We generally stay home when he's like that. I think we all get a little stir crazy after a while. Too much Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

  1. Glad he's feeling a bit better. Next phase sounds rough.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.
