Luis was at his grandparents' house for the weekend. When I arrived to pick him up today, I heard him screaming the instant I stepped in the door. I knew he was hiding in a bedroom closet so I tried to make a game of hide-and-seek out of it. Didn't work. He was screaming at the top of his lungs for me to go away. I gave him some space for a few minutes and tried again. Eventually, I pulled him from the closet. For the next few minutes, I was the target of multiple full-force four-year-old kicks, punches, bites and head butts. My patience was running thin. I took him to another room and laid him on the floor. I could see he was tired, but the screaming didn't stop. I ended up putting him in the car screaming with his Papa helping me load the baby and the rest of the bags into the car, then drove away. As I suspected, he fell asleep on the way home. The drama didn't end there.
After a 2.5 hour nap, he woke up crying and screaming. My friend and her son had stopped by to help with Julien and visit Luis (Thanks Chits!). But when Luis heard them, he wanted them to go away and he didn't want to see them. It was just after 6:30. I needed to get screaming Luis downstairs so screaming Julien could go upstairs to bed. Eventually, I had to carry Luis downstairs, again the target of many punches, where he hid under the kitchen table until I was done getting Julien to bed. Luis' crazy mood subsided when I put food in front him. He had quite a bit to eat and was all smiles.
We topped the evening off with a fun activity since I hadn't seen him all weekend. We got creative with playdough and used the noodle maker.
Now they're both asleep. Peace. Finally.
Cute little face he made with the playdoh, nice to see the smile.
