An uneventful week. Perfect!

MOMMY:

This weekend went by a lot smoother than last. Luis has been feeling much better. His appetite has improved and he doesn't seem to complain about his tummy too much. The week was rather uneventful. Since Luis' immune system is so weak right now, we stay home all the time. I finally got around to posting signs on the doors asking visitors to wash their hands (Nerd alert: I love PowerPoint!). Cleanliness is important and it can't be overstated or overlooked.

The next round of chemo will be given when Luis' platelets and neutrophils are high enough. We will get bloodwork done in Windsor this week to confirm if he is ready. If not, we'll wait another week and check his blood again. I'm not looking forward to this round of chemo. Many of the drugs repeat that we went through over the last four weeks. The worst part is a series of injections given at home by a nurse. He didn't like those. Thankfully, my 'treasure chest' is stocked with rewards. There is also an oral chemo drug that will be given at home daily for two weeks. Plus there are antibiotics and an anti-nauseant that have to be given. The oral chemo drug has to be given on an empty stomach (that means no other medicine within a 3 hour window) so it makes his days very structured. To make sense of it all, I keep a perfectly formatted medicine schedule (Nerd alert: I love Excel spreadsheets too!) on my kitchen cupboard that I check off as I give each medicine. It seems to work and I email it to the grandparents so they know what to do if they have him. I guess the week was so uneventful that I'm rambling about my awesome spreadsheet that I'm so proud of.

Perhaps I'll end here :)

  1. Glad to hear it was an uneventful week, it's great you ave a good system for the meds - sometimes nerdiness is good.
