MOMMY:
We made it home yesterday, and what a welcome. Pulling into my driveway, I saw balloons, several bouquets of flowers, and a 'sky dancer' (one of those crazy dancing stick men that is made of nylon with air rushing through it). Several family members also helped clean my house for our return. Many thanks! I can't say it stayed that way for long. I still have tons of bags laying around to be unpacked. You can't imagine how much stuff we accumulated in one month in one hotel room.
Our homecoming
On the medical side, Luis' CT scan was completely clear, yay! No visible masses. This was expected but we're glad it was confirmed. Yesterday, Luis got one of his chemo drugs injected into his spine. This will be a regular occurrence over the next month or so. Before he went in for the procedure, he felt a little warm. Turns out he had a fever around 38C (~100F) and both of his ears were infected. Lucky for us, his "neutrophil" count was high, meaning that he can fight off the infection. If they were low, a fever could be life threatening and he would have been hospitalized for up to 2 weeks. With some antibiotic given by IV and an antibiotic prescription in hand, we were able to leave the hospital, only a few hours later than planned.
The car ride home was a bit of a challenge. Julien was crying most of time. I finally stopped at a gas station (I was almost out of gas anyway). His eyes were goopy and he was hard to console. So first thing this morning, I had to take the baby to the clinic. Now HE has infections in both ears and pink eye in both eyes. Now BOTH kids are on 10 days of amoxicillin starting today. Man oh man....what's next?!?
hope they both feel better, Olivia was prone to ear infections and now has tubes.
