Ouchies

MOMMY:

A planned CT scan sounded pretty harmless. I just told Luis he would have to lay down real still so the doctors could take pictures. No one warned us ahead of time that he would need an IV inserted in the back of his hand to inject him with dye for the CT scan. Had we known, we would have applied a numbing cream to his hand to lessen to pain, and the drama. At the mention of a needle, he was a mess. Tears, screams, "No, no, no!!" The tears didn't stop until nearly an hour later when he finally got in and out for his scan.

Prior to the CT scan, we waited in a hospital room where Luis played, Braniac, a memory matching game. (He's quite the braniac with that game!) After he left the room, we saw more evidence of hair loss. The bed was covered with hairs where his head once was. It reminded me of when Julien was only a month or so old. Julien used to sleep in a bassinet by my bed and I would find tiny hairs on the white mattress cover. Then he got a bald spot in the back of his head like most babies do.

And so it starts.

  1. I didn't know they do the CT Scan like this. WOW. I felt so sad for Luis. How much can a little boy take it. We pray for him to get out of this soon. He is a real brave fighter as the blog says. I mean it. God bless him and you all.

  2. poor guy, Olivia had an I'VE for a week when she was brand new (hadn't left the hospital) and even at that age the effect was noticeable for almost 2 years. I think of all of you often.
